Meet Our New General Dentist: Dr. May Liu
Dr. May Liu is a general dentist at Coronado Classic Dentistry whose work centers on preventive and restorative care, including fillings and crowns. She earned her undergraduate degree at UC Berkeley and her dental degree at UCSF, then completed a hospital-based residency where she gained experience treating patients with special needs and complex medical histories.

For Dr. Liu, good dentistry starts with listening. She takes time to learn about each patient’s concerns, goals, and comfort level before recommending a course of action. Her treatment plans are realistic and tailored to the individual, and she favors conservative options that preserve as much natural tooth structure as possible. Prevention is a cornerstone of her work, because she believes the best dental problems are the ones that never develop in the first place.
Restorative dentistry is an area she especially enjoys. From repairing a cavity with a tooth-colored filling to rebuilding a damaged tooth with a custom crown, she finds real satisfaction in helping patients regain a strong, comfortable bite. To keep you informed every step of the way, Dr. Liu often uses an intraoral camera to capture close-up images of your teeth. Seeing exactly what she sees can make it easier to understand your diagnosis and weigh your options with confidence.

Impressive Training and Experience
Dr. Liu grew up in San Francisco and stayed close to home for her education. She graduated with honors from UC Berkeley, then went on to earn her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree at UC San Francisco, where her academic achievements and volunteer efforts earned her several awards. After dental school, she completed a residency at Rancho Los Amigos National Rehabilitation Center and was selected to serve as Chief Resident. That experience sharpened her skills in treating individuals with special needs and those managing complicated health conditions, so patients of all backgrounds can feel well cared for in her hands.
Getting to Know Dr. Liu
Away from the dental chair, Dr. Liu’s favorite moments are spent with her husband and their two boys. She loves getting outdoors on a hiking trail or the golf course, and when she’s at home, there’s a good chance something delicious is baking in her oven. Her warm, down-to-earth personality shines through at every appointment.
